B. Category-BSeat Allocation and Notification Rules
Under the Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE), Category-B (management quota) admissions for MBA courses are governed by specific state rules regarding seat allocation, candidate eligibility, and transparency. The core regulations include a 30% cap on management seats, mandatory entrance test preference, and specific academic minimums.
- 30% Quota: Private unaided minority and non-minority colleges can fill up to 30% of their sanctioned intake under Category-B (comprising management and NRI quotas).
- Public Notification: College managements must issue admission notifications in at least three popular daily newspapers (English, Telugu, and Urdu) and display details on their official notice boards and websites.
- Transparent Process: Blank application forms must be made available from college counters or websites upon paying a prescribed fee set by the competent authority.
Eligibility Criteria
- Nationality: Candidates must be Indian Nationals, though non-resident/NRI candidates have a designated sub-quota.
- Qualifying Examination: Candidates must have passed or appeared for a minimum 3-year Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university.
- Marks Requirements: General category (OC) candidates require a minimum of 50% aggregate marks, while reserved category candidates (SC, ST, BC) require 45% aggregate marks in the qualifying degree.
- Entrance Rank: Priority and eligibility require fulfilling norms tied to valid scores/ranks in national or state-level tests like TGICET, followed by non-CET qualified merit lists if seats remain vacant.
- Bachelor degree holder of Osmania University or a degree recognized by the university as equivalent thereto and /(or) as per the rules laid down by the University;
- The candidate seeking admission must qualify in the Entrance Examination, conducted by the appropriate authority in the year of admission as per the norms prescribed by the University.
- The students obtaining management quota seats must approach admissions Desk, in college campus
